Associate George Binder
George has worked as an orientation and mobility instructor for the Albuquerque Public Schools
for the past 20 years. He regularly serves 23 blind students within a public school setting.
His job duties include providing O&M evaluations, consultation to teachers, therapists, families,
and direct service instruction of cane travel skills and core curriculum skills.
Raised on a farm in southeast Nebraska, George obtained his undergraduate degree in History and Geography at Peru State College
and a master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility/Visual Disabilities from Florida State University.
Prior to his current position, he was employed as an orientation teacher for the Commission for the Blind in Omaha, Nebraska.
"I have a passion for travel, hiking, camping, and cultural exchanges.
I have taught conversational English in China for 2 summers, performed volunteer work in Latin America,
and have assisted international students at the University of New Mexico for the past 5 years."
